Things got a little hectic after my appointment last week. To sum up my last post...baby is fine, and along with continued monitoring, we are just going to accept that I'm not going to have a very big baby. Darn!
On Friday though I had a stomach ache come on in the afternoon. By that night I was pretty uncomfortable, but headed to bed. Around 2 am I woke up and felt like I had been punched in the side. By morning time I couldn't pick Braelynn up. I started thinking about my appendix and did a little Googling. The pain was pretty much in the location of the appendix, but I was still in denial.
I went ahead with my day, and around noon decided it would probably be best to go to the doctor. I did NOT want to be THAT pregnant lady, in the ER with gas pains...so we went to Urgent Care 1st. They immediately sent me to the ER, who let me "Pass Go" and sent me up the Triage.
After they confirmed I was NOT in labor, they ran some labs and sent me for an ultrasound. I went back to Triage and waited and waited some more. The nurse came in and said it was a good thing we came in, because I definitely needed to have my appendix out!
Ok, then I paniced. Surgery on a pregnant lady? Are you sure that's a good idea? The doctor came in and assured me that if I have to have surgery while being pregnant, now is a good time. All my organs are still in the right place, right shape, etc. Just to play it safe, they had a Labor & Delivery nurse in the OR with me ready to rock and roll if need be.
I went in for surgery at 7:30 and my family was able to see me by 10 o'clock. Luckily my parents were already half way here, visiting Ken's mom in the hospital in Casa Grande! The surgeon was able to do it Laproscopic, minimizing the scarring and whatnot.
I spent the night in the hospital and after a full day of monitoring me and the baby, I got to come home!
Pretty crazy weekend here, and I'm sure Kent is going to find the next 2 weeks even more crazy. Luckily we have some amazing friends and family bringing us dinner and helping watch Braelynn. She has yet to understand that I can't pick her up and she can't climb all over me, so I'm sure the extra play-pals will be a nice treat :)
Thank you to everyone keeping us in your prayers...we definitely felt them and know the Lord took good care of us!
